Badass Cross Stitch is in town!

Shannon Downey, better known as Badass Cross Stitch, will lead a hands-on embroidery workshop and introduce everyone to her craftivism project, Badass Herstory. This community-driven project focuses on the lived experiences and narratives of women and non-binary folks around the world.

If you don't know to embroider… she will teach you! If you do know, you can get started on your piece in the company of other artists and makers… or just work on something you're excited about! All are welcome to participate in this workshop – it's a guaranteed good time!

All materials are included.

Want to be part of Badass Herstory?

Badass Cross Stitch also has an exciting exhibition coming up at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia this winter! If you'd like to submit embroidered works to be included in this exhibition, please reach out to @BadassHerstory on Instagram. The deadline for submissions in October 15. Please note that submissions to the official Badass Herstory exhibition are only open to women and non-binary folks.

About Badass Cross Stitch:

Shannon Downey better known as Badass Cross Stitch, is a community organizer disguised as a fiber artist and craftivist. She blends her politics, activism, and art into projects that are designed to inspire others to take action, think, discuss, engage with democracy and their community, and find some digital/analog balance. She currently lives in her RV full-time and is traversing the country bringing community and art activism to the country she still believes in.

She is the instigator behind #RitasQuilt #MakeDontBreak and @BadassHerstory and is on a quest to teach 1 million people to embroider and invite society to rethink how we categorize and value craft and art.
