Sheryl Oring started the "I Wish to Say" project in 2004 to find out what ordinary Americans had to say about the current state of affairs. These cards were collected by students from schools across the Triad regarding the recent U.S. Presidential Election.

Sheryl Oring's "I Wish to Say" project is part of the Dispatches exhibition. Students and other visitors to the exhibition over the period from November 1 to December 31, 2016 (prior to the election and after the election) were encouraged to write notes to the future President, the President-elect, or President Obama. This blog post written for Inauguration Day, 2016, is a selection of these notes. While reading these notes from young people, please consider what you would write to the President.
