See cool cars and make awesome art.

Saturday, October 13, 2018 @ 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. | Hanes House

Presented in partnership with the Old Salem Chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America, the Cuban Car Show & 2nd Saturday is a special car-themed family art-making event highlighting the same types of classic American cars that light up the streets of Cuba!

To celebrate the close ties between Cuba and American car culture, we will be making hood ornaments inspired by classic American cars and artwork from our current exhibition, Cubans: Post Truth, Pleasure, and Pain

Why are there so many classic American cars in Cuba?

In 1959 the United States began an embargo making it illegal to import American cars to the island. As a result, Cubans have been preserving thousands of vintage American cars for decades, making Cuba one of the biggest classic car time capsules in the world. You may not be able to visit Cuba, but you can join us for the Cuban Car Show!

Free and open to all ages.
