How We See What We See When We Look at Contemporary Art

Thursday, November 08, 2018 @ 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. | Overlook Gallery

The inaugural Art Salad conversation will feature Steve Mizel – Professor Emeritus Wake Forest University School of Medicine; artist; B.A. University of California, Berkeley, Ph.D. Stanford University School of Medicine (Pharmacology)

What exactly is Art Salad?

Take two working artists. Add 30 years of seasoned art museum experience. Throw in a few PhDs. Toss lightly and voila. Introducing SECCA Art Salad—a series of five informal, fresh and zesty conversations about contemporary art. Designed to help demystify what can seem like an obscure, complicated and inaccessible topic, these conversations will unpack key ideas behind some of the most important art of the last century. Your choice of dressing.

The talks will be held in the Overlook Gallery. Admission is free and there will be light snacks, drinks, and a specialty cocktail will be available for purchase – SECCA members drink for free. The discussions are intended to be very informal and help attendees become more comfortable with contemporary art.

Attend all five in the series.
